Dr. Emily McConnelly grew up in Arlington, Virginia and currently resides in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hope College and earned a DVM degree from Michigan State University. Dr. McConnelly completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery with BluePearl Veterinary Partners. Prior to joining the Animal Medical Center of Ontario team, Dr. McConnelly practiced small and exotic animal medicine in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Dr. McConnelly's special interests include exotic pet medicine, fear free visits, behavior, and ophthalmology. She is Fear Free certified and is also an active member of several veterinary organizations including the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV) and the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV). Dr. McConnelly speaks regularly at the AEMV's annual meetings.
Outside of work, Dr. McConnelly enjoys gardening, knitting, and traveling. She shares her home with her husband and her pets, which include a goldfish that she has owned for over 10 years, named Silver, and two rabbits, a pair of sisters, named Panda and Pepper.
